How can counselling or therapy help?

There are many reasons for seeking counselling. You may be feeling upset and distressed and have problems with your feelings, thoughts, or behaviour. You may be facing a sudden life-crisis, struggling with an addiction, a loss, bereavement, divorce or struggling to resolve issues in your relationship. Perhaps you feel stuck in a difficult situation, lonely and isolated or depressed and anxious about your future. Whatever your concerns, whether an individual or seeking couple therapy, you will be offered a safe environment where you are heard and understood and where together we will aim to explore a way forward.

"...the remembered past provides us with the means to maintain, or validate, who we are today and to give focus and direction to who we might wish to become at some future point in time.” ― Ernesto Spinelli, Tales of Un-Knowing

Symptoms of Depression in Men: Counselling could make such a huge difference to the quality of your life...

Men and women both experience depression but their symptoms can be very different. Because men who are depressed may appear to be angry or aggressive instead of sad. Their families, friends, and even their doctors may not always recognize the anger or aggression as depression symptoms. In addition, men are less likely than women to recognize, talk about, and seek treatment for depression. Yet depression affects a large number of men. Our approach is collaborative and holistic and acknowledges the differences and needs of each person.

Individual Counselling

At Zarden Therapy, our ethos is grounded in the values of integrity, respect and egalitarianism. Our therapeutic environment facilitates autonomy, allowing all individuals to explore what is relevant to 'them' at a pace that feels comfortable. The counselling alliance is founded on the premise that all individuals will have a unique personal life experience and therefore it is 'they' who will best know how to move forward. How sessions work

Sessions usually last 50 mins, normally on a weekly basis although it is possible to negotiate shorter or longer sessions depending on what is required. By the end of the first session, if we have agreed that we will work together, we will establish a verbal contract, unique to us regarding the boundaries of the therapy. There is an understanding that within the therapeutic relationship, we are making a commitment of time and energy to each other in deciding to work together and it is significantly important that the client recognizes that each counselling session belongs to them to explore their concerns.
